Introductory NZ Sign Language course at Dovedale

An introductory course to New Zealand Sign Language will be held on Dovedale campus during August and September. This is a great opportunity for College of Education, Health and Human Development | Te Rāngai Ako me te Hauora students and staff to take part in the course.

The course covers finger-spelling alphabet and basic phrases, numbers, some university specific vocabulary and basic grammar.  No previous New Zealand Sign Language experience is required and the course is open to students and staff.  Handouts are provided and there is no structured homework though practicing signs between classes is encouraged to enhance your learning. 

Classes will be held on Monday 27 August and  3, 10, 17 and 24 September from 1.00pm – 2.00pm. The cost is $60.00.  A minimum of 12 attendees is needed for the course to start. Dovedale Campus – geotechnical testing Wednesday 6 July

A contractor will be on the Dovedale Campus on Wednesday 6 July to carry out geotechnical testing in the area around the old gymnasium.

The work will start at around 10.30am and is expected to finish around 4.30 – 5.00pm.

Please note, there will be some noise associated with this work. Take care if travelling near the work area.
