FREE event – talk with the experts about your rights and responsibilities as a tenant.
Did you end up in a dud flat this year? One that’s overpriced, freezing cold or equipped with an unhelpful property manager. Maybe you’re a first time flatter without a clue how the rental process works?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions I would highly recommend coming along Thursday 28 July to the flatting expo UC’s accommodation services are putting on. It’s about this time that students start sorting out a place to live next year.
The team has brought together representatives from rental companies and from organisations such as Tenants Protection Association that provide advocacy and support for tenants. CEA’s curtain bank stall will also be there where you can organise free curtains for your flat if yours are not up to standard.
I’ll be there along with other students from Engineers Without Borders (EQB) and UCSA and we’ll be providing unsolicited advice about our experiences flatting and what you should be looking for.
For all you first timers – to help you make your first time a good one there will also be a Flatting 101 seminar run at 12:15pm.
Come and find out about:
- The renting process and what you should be looking for in a flat
- Hot tips for staying warm and healthy
- Your rights as tenants
- How to deal with rental agencies and landlords
See you there!
Alex – Engineers Without Borders (The Warm Homes Initiative)
