Power outage – The Foundary – Monday 19 March 2018

As a consequence of needing to connect the Foundry building power supply to  a new substation, this building will be without power for most of the day.

Outage Period –    Monday 19th March, from   8am – 4.30pm
The building affected with a total power and data outage is:

  • The Foundry – including Bentley’s

Students are advised that for the affected buildings with a power outage there will be NO ACCESS as the buildings will be locked down for the period of the outage.

 

Ilam campus power outage – Wed 31 January, 6pm-12am

 To perform an annual generator and system test of the high voltage and emergency power infrastructure installed within the Ilam campus, a planned power outage affecting approximately 50% of the campus is required.

The testing process will involve the power supplied to affected buildings being disrupted a number of unspecified times during the outage period. Buildings supplied with emergency power will have that delivered to them for the period of the test. In addition, the data network services only for some of the Campus outlying buildings are affected . These buildings are listed separately.

To minimise the user impact the outages have been scheduled during the evening during the summer break.

 Outage Period –    Wednesday 31st January, from   6pm – 12am midnight

Buildings which will be supplied with their assigned emergency power during the test after a very short outage are:

  • Julius von Haast
  • Pūtaiao Koiora
  • Ernest Rutherford (New RRSIC building)

Buildings which will only lose their  Data services for the outage period are:

  • Creyke Road houses
  • Clyde Road houses
  • Kirkwood village units

Staff are advised that for the affected buildings with a power outage there will be NO ACCESS as the buildings will be locked down by Security for the period of the outage.

It is recommended that building occupants turn off their computers and area printers last thing before leaving work on the afternoon before the outage.

Please forward this advice to any affected staff and student building users as appropriate.

While the timing should mean any impact will be minimal, we apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

Following earlier advice about power outages necessary to enable commissioning of new power infrastructure on the Ilam campus, we wish to advise that a further power outage is required this weekend.

Outage Period – 29 April, from 8am – 6pm
