Want to take your PhD research overseas? The Claude McCarthy Fellowship (Category A) is offering an opportunity for graduates of a NZ University who are enrolled for a PhD (also at a NZ University) and have completed at least one year of doctoral studies to travel overseas for short periods to present their research at conferences and/or conduct research leading towards their NZ doctoral degree.

Funding is awarded for use in the academic year following the year of application for periods up to three months. Value varies (up to $5000 for Category A).

Rhodes Scholarship – postgrad study at Oxford

Rhodes scholarshipThe Rhodes Scholarship is an amazing opportunity for up to three NZ students to pursue postgraduate study at the University of Oxford.

This opportunity is open to NZ citizens (or NZ permanent residents with at least five years domicile in NZ in the past 10 years) who have graduated or expect to graduate with an undergraduate degree this year. The scholarship is for postgraduate study for up to three years and covers personal allowance of £13,658 pa, plus fees and return airfares. You must be aged between 19 – 25 in the year of election.

This is such an incredible opportunity to have the educational experience of a lifetime – and it’s paid for! If you’re interested (of course you are) there is a Rhodes Scholarship Information Seminar on the 4th of June from 6pm in Undercroft 101. Please RSVP by the 28th of May.

Got First-Class Honours? Scholarship alert!

If you’ve completed a degree with First-Class Honours then read on to learn about a mind-blowing scholarship opportunity!

The Woolf Fisher Scholarship is tenable at the University of Cambridge for up to three students who have completed a degree with First-Class Honours or expect to do so this year. The scholarship is for three to four years of postgraduate research leading to a doctoral degree. The value of the scholarship is approximately $100,000 pa (includes airfares, tuition fees and stipend). You must be under the age of 30 and have attended a NZ secondary school for at least two years.

The main objective of the Trust is that Woolf Fisher Scholars will make a significant commitment to New Zealand and become leaders in their fields. Successful scholars will possess many of the qualities admired by Woolf Fisher:  integrity, leadership, boldness of vision and exceptional zeal, keenness and capacity for work.
