Do you have an idea for a business or social enterprise but don’t know where to start? Are you interested in entrepreneurship and startups and want to give it a go? Or, do you have skills or expertise that would benefit a local startup? The UCE Summer Startup Programme could be for you.
Run over 10 weeks from November 2018 to February 2019 the Summer Startup Programme is a fantastic opportunity for you to become involved in the startup world — either by working on your own idea or a project for a local startup. We have $5,000 scholarships available so you don’t have to worry about that summer job while you work on your venture or project here in the UCE space.
The programme and scholarships are open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students from all levels and areas of study, you just need to be enrolled in Semester Two, 2018. Applications are open now and close on Friday 15 September, 12.00 noon. Spaces are strictly limited.

The Marketing Smackdown is a two-day challenge where you will find innovative ways to solve problems that the Christchurch business community is facing.
You will get the opportunity to hear inspirational speakers, and work with mentors and experts in the marketing industry, and have the opportunity to win cash prizes. If you’re interested in the power of marketing, this is the event for you!
We supply you with all the information and people you need to get the most out of your experience. All you need to do is apply and turn up! All tertiary students are eligible to register, either as a team or as individuals. Registrations close Sunday 29 July, the Challenge is 4 – 5 August with the launch on Thursday 2 August.

The MYOB IT Challenge is a week long business and technical challenge where you work in teams to come up with real world solutions for MYOB. It is a great opportunity to develop your technical skills, business knowledge and network with industry professionals. There is also a chance to win cash prizes and represent UC at the National Final in Auckland! Teams of 2-4 students will have one week to come up with a proposal and conceptual design in response to the Challenge Brief, and present it to a panel of judges. The winning team will be sent to the National Final where they will build a working prototype and compete for the $5000 prize pool, as well as internships opportunities!
