At this stage the Government advised that gatherings or events where 500 or more people are together in one place outdoors, or 100 people indoors should be cancelled. However, the situation and response is changing all the time.
Below is an update from University & Tertiary Sport New Zealand (UTSNZ) on their upcoming event changes:
- The Rowing championship scheduled for 10-11 April has been cancelled.
- The Futsal championship scheduled for the 16-19 April has been postponed (to be reviewed late April/May).
- The 3×3 Basketball and Hockey Championship events remain as scheduled, with a further update pending within the next 48 hours.
In all cases, the health and safety of students, staff and community volunteers will be paramount. Where National Tertiary Championship events proceed, Ministry of Health protocols and precautions will be adhered to in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
