End of Dovedale book hold and returns services

The Dovedale pickup service for requests will end on Thursday 15 November.

Library services allowing pickup of requested items from the Dovedale campus and returns of books to the after hours returns bin outside the former Education Library will be ending on Thursday, 15th November.

Have a great idea but need help developing it? Know somebody who has started their business and needs support in the early stages?

The Dream, Believe, Succeed Foundation was established to give business driven youth the opportunity of developing their entrepreneurial spirit and providing a funding start up together with a service and mentoring package to commence their own business or grow their existing business with the goal of becoming a successful business person.

The successful candidate will receive:

  • up to $20,000 cash and the following:
  • An accounting package from Deloitte to the value of $10,000
  • A legal package from Lane Neave to the value of $5,000
  • A branding, graphic design, media and communications package to the value of $15,000
  • A marketing package from Happy Hire valued at $1,500
  • An office space at The Greenhouse
  • An insurance package from Sherpa Insurance valued at $1,500
  • 12 months mentoring and support from the founder of the award, Steve Brooks
  • 12 months mentoring from a successful business person who is involved in your business industry

Addington Cup Day Alcohol Ban

With Christchurch’s Cup and Show Week nearly underway.  We’ve got some advice for those thinking about going.

What you need to know

Addington Raceway and Riccarton Park are the country’s biggest week in horse racing.

More than 20,000 people are expected to pour through the gates at Addington next Tuesday to watch the Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup.

Tickets are available online and at the gate for both Addington and Riccarton.


Take a taxi or hop on a bus, or arrange to be dropped off nearby. Addington also offers a free bus service to the city from 5.30pm on Cup Day.

Alcohol ban areas on Cup Days

The Addington alcohol ban from 9am to 10pm on the day of the New Zealand Trotting Cup covers the area bounded by Lincoln Road, Moorhouse Avenue, Blenheim Road, Matipo Street and Wrights Road.

The Riccarton alcohol ban from 7am to midnight on the day of the NZ Cup covers the area bounded by Yaldhurst Road, Middlepark Road, Epsom Road, Main South Road, Racecourse Road, Buchanans Road, Carmen Road and Masham Road.
