Echo360, the current lecture capture solution used to record lectures and provide access to video content, will no longer be supported after 2017. A project to replace Echo360 has been approved.
We have chosen to move to Echo360 Active Learning Platform (ALP), the new product from our current vendor. This option will require the least change for users. ALP is a cloud based service that has the advantage of removing the current performance issues with local storage and playback of video files. We anticipate that there will be an impact on internet traffic, but are confident that the network infrastructure will be able to provide a quality service. ALP will be fully integrated with Learn and Syllabus +.
We will be expanding the number of lecture theatres equipped with lecture capture hardware as part of the project, due to growing demand.
The new system will be in place for start of 2018 and we will be running a small pilot later in 2017.
