In addition to UC’s in-house Professional Development workshops, there is also the opportunity for staff to enrol on the wide variety of courses offered by UC to our students.
Semester 2 commencing on 17 July provides a great opportunity for UC staff to enrol on these courses and continue progress with their professional development.
If you’ve already had your professional development and review (PD&R) discussion with your Head/manager, then you’ve probably already identified areas where you want to develop your skills. If you haven’t yet had this discussion, there is still time before Semester 2 to explore options with your Head/manager.
A wide range of courses across all Colleges are relevant to a variety of UC roles, so visit the Semester 2 section of the website or do an Advanced Search on the course lists to identify something that might suit your interests, ambitions and availability.
One option that is applicable to any role at UC and is in keeping with UC’s commitment to biculturalism is the BSNS201 Business and Culture in Aotearoa and Beyond course, which explores biculturalism, interacting with Te Ao Māori – the Māori world and the role of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in the history and current business context of Aotearoa New Zealand. Before enrolling on this course, staff should first attend Tangata Tū, Tangata Ora through the UC in-house Professional Development workshops.
When you’ve identified a potential course of interest and spoken to your Head/manager, check the Staff Tertiary Study Assistance information on the intranet to see if you are eligible for fee payment assistance.
Whatever your role at UC, enrolling in one of our study options also provides a great opportunity to experience UC from a student perspective.
Intercom welcomes contributions from UC staff who have worked and studied here simultaneously, and who would like to share their experience. Contribute by following the instructions here>
