Adopting digital technologies in the curriculum

Digital Technologies has just been added to the New Zealand curriculum, and will be taught from primary school level.

In a recent UC Connect public lectureProfessor Tim Bell looked at the purpose of introducing it to such young students, how it related to the rest of the curriculum, and the challenges and successes involved in adopting digital technologies in schools.

If you missed it, you can watch the lecture, here.

Need to know: UC Insurance

UC has a comprehensive insurance programme that includes damage, loss, business interruption, travel, and liability policies.  Responsibility for the programme sits within my portfolio and following recent staff movements, I have taken the opportunity to revisit the management of various aspects of the programme.

Every year, our broker goes out to market on behalf of the university sector to secure the best conditions and premium for the sector. This annual renewal will continue to be managed by myself and the Financial Controller, Adrian Hayes.  Finance Shared Services will also continue to support the operational claims and renewal invoices.

All other operational and strategic insurance issues will now be managed by the Risk Manager, Jacqui Lyttle.  Jacqui has used this opportunity to update the Insurance site on the intranet and I encourage you to have a look at the extensive array of information that is on that site now.

Please do not hesitate to contact Jacqui directly or via the dedicated insurance email address insurance@canterbury.ac.nz with any insurance queries that you have.
