Step up and step out. The University of Canterbury is in a race to out-step eleven other universities in the first Australian University Health Challenge.
Just like the Aotearoa Bike Challenge earlier this year in February, we are inviting you to join the Australasian University Health Challenge for August. This challenge has been set up by the team at CQ University Australia and they have invited campuses all around Australia and New Zealand to join in.
All you need is your 2 feet and the will to complete 10,000 steps a day from 19 August to 29 September. This may sound like a crazy task but you’d be surprised to know that if you add in all your steps from walking around campus and to and from meetings they starts to accumulate without you even knowing.
The challenge does not start until 19 August and the official registration does not open until 1 August. However if you are eager to jump on early and count your steps then by all means do so! You can sign up early and keep track of your steps by visiting their website.
Who are the twelve universities involved in this battle? Well check out the competition below

With UC being the only University from the South Island of New Zealand, let us show the north that we can step! But why stop there… lets show the Aussies we mean business too! So save the date 19 August to 29 September 29.
