The power of Yet

Have you come back with a little (or big) desire to make changes to bring about more wellbeing in your life? Perhaps we can help with that.

First up, i’d like to introduce you to the power of a little word  – yet. Put it at the end of a sentence, and it changes everything.

“I can’t touch my toes…yet”
“I don’t journal…yet”
“I haven’t found an exercise I like…yet”
“I can’t play guitar…yet”
“I don’t speak Italian…yet”

Finding your best wellbeing formula will require a bit of trial and error.   You might find journalling or a self-care routine is enough to put you in your happy place, but you might also find it doesn’t.  Check out these 15 tips to boost your wellbeing  and you might just get some inspiration.

Part of that formula should include some exercise.  Find something joyful, that every time you move you look forward to it, and are perhaps a little sad when it’s over!   This could be outdoors, indoors, at the beach or in the garden.

Bicycle thefts on campus

The UC community is currently experiencing a large number of bicycle thefts. The Security team are working with Police to identify and apprehend the offenders.

If you see any suspicious activity around any of the bicycle stands on campus please contact UC Security on 6111 or 0800 823 637 immediately.

If you are parking your bicycle on campus, we suggest that you use the secure bicycle sheds. These are located at Creyke Road, behind C-Block lecture theatre and next to the Meremere (law) building.

Most importantly UC Security suggest that you use a good quality D-Lock to secure your bicycle. These have proven to be a great deterrent to thieves as all the reported thefts to date have been of bicycles secured using wire rope or chain locks.

First Tertiary Technicians Symposium: Registrations now open

The symposium I posted about late last year is now open for registrations. You can find all the details and how to register on the ATEM website.

What: The Aotearoa ATEM committee is organising a Tertiary Technicians Symposium.

The aim of the day is to improve the visibility and recognition of our technical workforce, provide them with an opportunity to network with their peers and help them explore professional development opportunities.
