Spring Small Group Training at the UC RecCentre

Our popular Term 4  Small Group Training (SGT) courses are open for registration, just in time for Spring!
These courses are open to everyone (no membership required), so if you’re looking for a bit of extra motivation during your work week, we might have the perfect solution for you, just over the other side of University Drive!

What is Small Group Training? 

  • Short 6 week fitness courses, focusing on a specific fitness/mind body discipline. E.g. Boxing, Bootcamp, Yoga etc.
  • Our experienced instructors work with you, along with the same small group of people each week in a supportive and energising environment.
  • Workouts can be individualised to suit you and your experience, due to the small class size.
  • A great way to remain accountable and motivated to reach your health and fitness goals.

Small Group Training Courses – Term 4

Did you know the Rec Centre’s popular Small Group Training courses are open for anyone to attend, no membership required??  We have a bunch of different courses for all UC Staff to take advantage of!

Recreation centre, various classes set up by staff for marketing services, 20.10.15 and 23.10.15 Client, Kat Henderson, Rec Centre.

What is Small Group Training?
Short 5 week fitness courses, where you will work with the same small group of people each week in a supportive and energising environment.
The courses are a great way to try something new and stay healthy and well at the same time!

Staff only yoga and meditation courses

Come along to Staff Only Yoga.

Registrations are now open for the third round of Staff Yoga 2016.

These courses are dedicated to UC staff only, with a maximum of 20 people to allow for more personalised teaching and alignment adjustments in a nice, private space. The courses run in an eight week block and start during the week beginning Monday 11 July.  Courses will be led by either John Squire or Sabine Steinegg.

Option 1 – Tues 5:15pm KA04 (Kirkwood Village)

Option 2 – Tues 6:30pm KA04 (Kirkwood Village)

Option 3 – Wed 1:00pm DW1 (Jack Mann Auditorium, Dovedale)

Meditation through Yin Yoga

Registrations also open for our meditation course. This course aims to teach you simple techniques to breathe, move and meditate to help lower stress levels and contribute to your overall health and well-being. Each practice will be taught using the Yin Yoga style, which is much slower and more mindful.  The course runs in a six week block from Sunday 17 July – Sunday 21 August and is lead by the lovely Sabine.

Both Staff Yoga and Meditation are open to all UC staff members, no membership required.

To register, either pop into the Rec Centre and sign up with one of our receptionists. Otherwise you can give us a call on ext 8434 and we can register you over the phone. Payment must be taken at the time of booking.

Opt 1 – Tues 5:15pm KA04 (Kirkwood Village)

Opt 2 – Wed 1pm DD02 (Dovedale Village)

Opt 3 – Tues 6:30pm KA04 (Kirkwood Village)

Meditation through Yin Yoga 

Registrations also open for our Meditation course. This course aims to teach you simple techniques to breath, move and meditate to help to lower stress levels and contribute to your overall health and wellbeing. Each session will also consist of a short Yin Yoga practice. The course runs in a six week block from Sunday 28 February to Sunday 10 April at 6:15pm (opt1) and is lead by the lovely Sabine.
