Financial Planning Seminar – “Getting Set Up” – Under 35 age group

New Zealand Financial Planning (NZFP) are offering UC Staff the opportunity to attend a range of free seminars. The aim of the seminars is to put practical tools in front of people so they can make informed choices and better understand the options they have to create their financial independence and manage their wealth.

This seminar covers things that are key to getting started for those early in their careers and working lives.

Applications for the Vice-Chancellor General Staff Development Awards, and the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Awards 2020 – Closing July 15

Kia ora koutou,

Applications are now open for the Vice-Chancellor General Staff Development Awards for 2020.

Please visit the Vice-Chancellor General Staff Development Awards webpage for full details and the application form.

These awards recognise and assist exceptional professional development initiatives and are available to continuing general staff members. I encourage both work teams and individuals to apply.

The Health, Safety & Wellbeing Awards for 2020 are also open.

These awards now include a Recognition award for engagement with health and safety at the university, and an Initiative Award that is to reward and encourage staff members to initiate innovative Health and Safety practices within their Department/Unit/College.

These are open to all fixed-term and continuing staff and I encourage both work teams and individuals to apply.

Previous winners include –

Julian Phillips, Technician, Mechanical Engineering, joined a group of students for a humanitarian effort repairing medical equipment in the Solomon Islands.

The UC Grounds team, Facilities Services, developed a highly innovative and workable solution improving hazard awareness and safety of the community whilst mowing.

Te Paea Paringatai, Manager Customer Services, Library, attending and presenting a paper at the IFLA World Library & Information Congress in Athens, Greece.

Vice Chancellor’s General Staff Development Awards – Applications open next Monday

We are welcoming applications for the Vice Chancellor’s General Staff Development Awards from Monday 15 June 2020, and the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Awards from Wednesday 17 June.

Applications for both awards close on Wednesday 15 July 2020.

Changes to the Awards and Ceremony

Please note there are some amendments to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Awards, which are now in two categories. The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Recognition and Health, Safety and Wellbeing Initiative Awards, please see the H&S internet site for more information, there is also a change to the ceremony dates this year.

Awards winners will still able to utilise the award in the same way as last year, however, the ceremony to recognise the winners will be moved out to around November with dates yet to be confirmed.
