Disability Resource Advisor

Last NZ Sign Language course this year!

The Equity & Disability Service offers introductory New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) courses which are open to UC students and staff. The course will run each Thursday of Term 4.

Participants are taught:

  • The finger-spelling alphabet
  • Basic phrases
  • Some university-specific vocabulary
  • Basic grammar
  • Deaf culture

No previous NZSL experience is required. Attendees have the option of further developing their NZSL through community-based courses. For more information, please visit the website>

Learn NZ Sign Language

NZ Sign Language (NZSL) classes will be held in the Puaka-James Hight building each Thursday in term 2, (May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30) from 12 to 12.50pm.

Participants will learn the finger-spelling alphabet and basic phrases, some university specific vocabulary and basic grammar. No previous NZSL experience is required.

The course is open to both students and staff and the cost is $50. Please email  to register.

Term 4 NZ Sign Language Course

The Disability Resource Service is offering an introductory course in NZSL, each Thursday of Term 4, 4.30 to 5.30pm.

Learn the finger-spelling alphabet, basic phrases and grammar, some uni lingo and about Deaf culture. Open to staff and students, the cost is $60.00.
