Career Planning for the Early Career Academic is a programme designed to help you plan your career and examine the capabilities needed to succeed in an academic career.
We’ll equip you with practical tools, techniques and insights which will help you identify and develop your skills and abilities.
You’ll also have the chance to meet members of the Senior Management Team and hear from senior University staff about areas of research, teaching and service.
The programme is also about interacting with other colleagues, and you will be able to do this with new Academic staff from UC, Lincoln and Otago.

Here’s what past participants have had to say about it:
“One of the big things for me was meeting people passionate about their research, teaching, and an academic career. I have a much better understanding of what an academic career involves, the dedication required, and the avenues for support.”
“Jarg’s presentation was particularly relevant and helpful. The teaching panel was also full of great information, and Larry is brilliant.”
“Overall, the programme was very informative and motivating. I consider the 2 days a very good time investment.”
