The south access point to the north/south walkway which runs through the Civil/Mechanical building will be closed on Monday 27 June and Tuesday 28 June. This is to allow for roofing work to be carried out.
To access the Civil/Mechanical building, please use the door on the north/Creyke Road side. Or, if travelling through campus, please use Forestry or Engineering roads instead.
In order to undertake works in the associated plant room, the north-south walkway through Civil/Mechanical will be closed this weekend for the entire day of Saturday 2 April.
Signage will be in place to indicate alternative routes.
With the majority of the Civil and Natural Resources (CNR) wing officially handed over to Hawkins last week, the covered walkway on the south side of the wing is now closed.
This means the only access into the Civil/Mechanical building is through the entrances at either end of the north-south walkway.
The Mechanical wing is currently being decanted, prior to being handed over to Hawkins in February 2016. Emergency exit will be maintained out of Civil/Mechanical through the lane between these two wings at all times, and signage is in place to indicate this route.
The laneway bike stands have been relocated to the John Britten car park facing the north-south walkway, so cyclists can easily park up and enter the walkway.
All pedestrians on Engineering Road will be steered onto the western pavement behind the temporary barriers.
As a part of the CETF project, the new main switchboards are to be installed in their final position within the Electrical Engineering sub- station, requiring a power outage to a small section of the Ilam campus next weekend. This is the last planned power outage for Stage 1 of the CETF project.
Outage period: Saturday 12th to 13th December, from 7.00am to 7.00pm.
Because of the extended nature of this outage, normal data services and access control will not function and buildings will be cleared, hard locked and inaccessible for the period of the outage. Should you inadvertently require access, you will need to contact Security directly.
Many of the buildings affected are within the current CETF construction zone, however those outside of this zone that will be affected are:
- EPS Library
- Special purposes and Fire Lab
- High voltage Lab
- Lecture Theatres E8 and E9
- Hard Hat Cafe
While the planned outages are during the weekend to minimise impacts, we apologise in advance for any inconvenience. Please forward this email within your departments and to students as appropriate.
Some staff may have already been advised of the potential outage as part of the planning process, and this notification should be read as a confirmation that it will now proceed.
If there are any issues with the planned works, please contact Rob Oudshoorn on ext. 6477 or 027 436 4161.
On Tuesday 24 November, 24 Kirkwood Avenue will become a construction site. Two temporary Portacoms are to be built on the site as part of the CETF decanting requirements for the Mechanical Engineering Department. The site will be fenced off to prevent public access into the site.
Please contact David Wong (Capital Works Project Manager) if you have any issues or queries at: 027 839 5090.
