FUSH is coming to campus

We are pleased to announce that FUSH will be available from both the Ilam and Dovedale campuses from semester two.

FUSH is the Wigram-based fish and chip shop with a Kiwi twist – the team believe that the one variable that matters more than anything in their industry is the level of manaakitanga they give their manuhiri, (guests).

Fush strive to take great care of every person who walks through the doors at their restaurant and ensure that no matter what, their guests leave happier than when they arrived.

That attitude is what they take on the road in the Little Fush Waka and it’s what makes them so unique in their industry.

You’ll find the Little Fush Waka at Dovedale near the carpark/Waimairi building every Monday starting 16 July and at Ilam between the Central and North Arts lecture theatres every Friday starting 20 July.

Kirkwood and Dovedale Villages

Both the Kirkwood and Dovedale villages have been sold and are scheduled for progressive removal over a period of 18 months commencing 1 July, 2018 .

Capital Works are managing a gradual vacation of both villages in close collaboration with existing tenants, however the schedule requires vacant possession of all units with building services disconnected by 30 June.

This means that as from 1 January, 2018 no additional uses can be accommodated in these units with the remaining tenant re-locations to be executed over the next four months. Consequently, spaces vacated within the two villages will no longer available for any future use by the University community, and booking requests will no longer be accepted by Timetabling, Ad-Hoc Room Bookings or Security.

Building work starting on Dovedale Campus

On Monday 18 April construction work will start on the building located near the corner of Parkstone Ave and the entrance to Car Park 1 on Dovedale Campus.

The building, previously occupied by Ao Tawhiti Unlimited Discovery School, is being extended and refurbished to accommodate the Ilam Early Learning Centre which is moving to Dovedale Campus in mid-2016.

Some construction equipment and machinery may be stored in Car Park 1 during the project, however staff and students will continue to have access to the car park throughout the work. Low levels of construction noise are expected during the project.

Currently located on Ilam Campus next to the UCSA building, the Early Learning Centre is being moved to Dovedale Campus to avoid any disruption when the existing UCSA building is demolished and rebuilt. Demolition work is due to start on the UCSA building in the middle of the year and construction work on the new building is expected to finish in 2018.

The building work on Dovedale Campus is due to finish in July. For more information about this project contact David Wong, Project Manager.
