Free Breakfast for Cyclists: BYO Cup!

It’s the event worth getting out of bed (and onto your bike) for… the Bike Breakfast is back next Monday 23rd March from 8am – 10am at the Beatrice Tinsley Bike Park!This year your reward for biking to UC is coming in the form of vegan danishes, banana smoothies and fair trade coffee… and it’s all for FREE! All you need to do is ride to UC next Monday 23rd, park up your bike in the snazzy new Beatrice Tinsley bike stands (or, show us your helmet if you parked up elsewhere) and we’ll reward you with breakfast on us.

Please note: There will be no single use cups at this event. The Cup Library won’t be available at this event so please bring along your own coffee cup. UC is following advice from WHO and Ministry of Health regarding all upcoming events, read more>

What else can you expect?

On the spot bike repairs thanks to Dr Bike, cycling chat and information about the city cycleways thanks to the wonderful Anne from the Christchurch City Council, and more cycling banter than you’ve ever heard before…

Did we mention there’s FREE breakfast on the line?!

Dr Bike is back for 2020

Bring your bike down to C Block Lawn every Wednesday afternoon from 12pm – 1.30pm, and get your bike serviced for free!

Dr Bike is a free cycle fix-it clinic available to both UC staff and students. This service provides basic cycle maintenance such as tuning brakes, oiling chains and puncture repairs.

You’ll find Tom and Sam on C Block Lawn every Wednesday from 12pm – 1.30pm during term time. Come past and say hi, and get your bike looked over while you’re there!

If you’re interested in seeing how Dr Bike fits into the bigger picture about planning for cyclists at UC, you might like to look at the UC Cycle Plan 2014-2022. And if you’re riding your bike to UC more often than not, you might be interested in our Bike Breakfast event later this month!

Get your bike ready to roll into Term Two with us!

Bring your bike down to C Block Lawn every Monday afternoon from 2pm – 3.30pm, and Dr Bike will service it for free.

Bike Fest is coming!

Come and celebrate spring and all things cycling with us at our Spring Bike Fest!

Bike Fest is a cycle celebration! Come and meet other cyclists at UC, plus:

  • enjoy a FREE sausage sizzle and beanbags to relax on,
  • on-the-spot cycle repairs and DIY workshop sessions thanks to Dr Bike and UC Bike,
  • the chance to sign up to our UC Bicycle Users Group (UC BUG) or ask us any questions about joining up to our commuter cycling community (if you haven’t already!)
  • make a pedal powered banana smoothie with the famous smoothie bike!
  • Learn more about the best cycle ways and routes in the city,
  • Pick up your Biketober calendar and passport from us to see even more cycling events and activities during the month of October, and join us as we celebrate Christchurch’s annual festival of cycling,
  • Sign up and learn more about some cycling skills and confidence rides we are holding thanks to Connie from Go Cycle Christchurch,
  • Plus prizes, competitions and more!

When: Monday 1 October, 12:00pm – 2:00pm

Where: C Block Lawn

Who: Anyone with an interest in cycling!

What should I bring? Yourself, your friends and colleagues who already cycle, your friends and colleagues who would like to start cycling to UC but don’t know where to start, your bike if you’d like it tuned, and a cup for your pedal powered banana smoothie!

Dr Bike is back for Term Four!

Free bike servicing!

Dr Bike is back for Term 4, and here to help get you back on your bike – just in time for spring.

Olly and Kieran will be on C Block Lawn every Tuesday afternoon from 1pm – 2.30pm until the end of term for all your free bike servicing needs!

Drop past with your bike any time between 1pm – 2.30pm on Tuesdays and they will be happy to help you out with puntures, oiling chains, and any general tuning.
