Academic Exchange opportunities now available from the Erskine Programme

The Erskine Programme is pleased to announce that the following academic exchange programmes, for 2017 visits, are now open:

  • Canterbury Fellowships and Grants (for visits to/from the University of Canterbury) for staff members in the Faculties of Arts (except Philosophy and Linguistics), Education and Law;
  • Cambridge/Canterbury Academic Exchange Programme for visits to/from the University of Cambridge, UK; and
  • Oxford/Canterbury Academic Exchange Programme for visits to/from the University of Oxford, UK.

The closing date for all applications is 29 April 2016.

If you are from an Erskine eligible department/school applications for Erskine Visiting Fellowships and Grants for 2017 visits can also be submitted to the Erskine Programme Office.

Academic Visitors to UC in early 2016

The Erskine Programme would like to welcome the first of its 2016 visitors to the University of Canterbury.

The following visitors are already here:

  • Professor Selwyn Piramuthu from the University of Florida USA, visiting the Department of Accounting and Information Systems (Erskine Visiting Fellow);
  • Mr Austin Mitchell from the UK visiting the Department of Political Science (Canterbury Visiting Fellow);
  • Professor Sigrid Beck from the Universitat Tubingern, Germany visiting the Department of Linguistics (Erskine Visiting Fellow); and
  • Professor Julian Dowdeswell from The University of Cambridge visiting Gateway Antarctica (Cambridge Visiting Fellow).

Arriving this week are:

  • Professor Jeanie Foray from Western New England University USA, visiting the Department of Management, Marketing & Entrepreneurship (Erskine Visiting Fellow);
  • Professor Paul Fitzgerald and Professor Suzanne Baldwin from Syracuse University visiting the Department of Geological Sciences (Joint Erskine Fellowship).

To all our new visitors, we hope you and your families have a wonderful experience at UC.

November’s Erskine Programme visitors

The Erskine Programme is delighted to welcome the following visitors to the University during November:

  • Emeritus Professor Colin Summerhayes, who is visiting from the University of Cambridge UK, and will working with Gateway Antarctica between 13 November 2015 and 29 January 2016.
  • Professor Roger Stover, who is visiting from Iowa State University USA, and will be spending time with the Department of Economics & Finance between 20 November 2015 and 29 December 2015.

We wish them all the best for their time at UC.
