Tree removal will take place next week, Monday to Friday, 19 – 23 November in preparation for pedestrian upgrades to the Law Car Park and footpaths through to Kirkwood Avenue.
Work will take place daily 8am – 4.30pm and noise is expected from machinery during this time.
This work is to provide safer pedestrian routes through the Law Car Park for the increase in staff and student numbers accessing the RecCentre and K1 Lecture Theatre.
Parts of the Law Car Park will be closed and access to the RecCentre Car Park and Warehouse will be reduced to single-lane traffic movements from Kirkwood Avenue while this work is being carried out. We recommend that staff park in Clyde Car Park during this time.
We do not approach the removal of trees lightly and will ensure that new plantings are incorporated into future development plans.
We apologise for any disruption during this time.
Early enabling works and ground improvements are continuing on the UCSA building site.
During April and May a large excavator will be carrying out earthworks and stabilising the ground. Large machinery will also be on site compacting gravel.
Noise levels are likely to increase – as well as general construction noise, there will be heavy compaction of gravel and truck movements.
Please take care when travelling near the site – watch for construction vehicles coming and going.
Note – The footbridge located between the UCSA site and University Drive (opposite the University Bookshop) will remain closed until the end of May. Please continue to use the two footbridges located between the Health Centre and University Drive (opposite the ICT car park). See more information
All early enabling works and ground improvements are expected to be completed by June.
