10 Year Anniversary Earthquake Commemoration

In commemoration of the 2011 Christchurch Earthquake, Tumu Whakarae Vice-Chancellor Cheryl de la Rey and Tumu Tuarua  Kaunihera Pro-Chancellor Steve Wakefield will lay a puapua whakamahara, a wreath, at the Roimata Sculpture at 12pm on Monday 22 February. You are welcome to join them for a moment of silence and reflection after the puapua whakamahara is placed.

There will also be cones placed on University Drive with flowers next to them. We encourage you to take a moment to place a flower in a cone in commemoration.

A civic memorial service is happening at Oi Manawa Canterbury National Earthquake Memorial at 12.30pm on 22 February. If you would like to go to this event, please talk with your manager to check that it is operationally possible for you to attend. The service will be live-streamed and available on demand for people who cannot be there in person. Find more information here>
