Microsoft Teams and OneDrive is coming!

Kia ora koutou,

We are delighted to announce that Microsoft 365 (M365) applications, Teams and OneDrive, will be available to all staff at UC in November 2021.

Microsoft Teams and OneDrive is stage one of introducing tools which support agility, responsiveness, and collaboration. We will be introducing additional features such as Teams for Teaching and Learning in stages across the University, next year.

A pilot with various groups around the University has shown success over the past few months, which has been beneficial in preparing for the university wide launch of Teams and OneDrive.

More about Teams and OneDrive:
Teams and OneDrive are cloud-based Microsoft applications used locally and globally that are very effective means of collaborating from any device, anywhere.

Teams is a place where you and your colleagues can create content and make decisions together. Teams allows your conversations, files, meetings, and apps to come together in a single shared workspace that you can access on any device.

OneDrive gives you one place to store and share files you manage on any device, anywhere at any time, which is an improvement to P Drive. You can also share and co-author documents with colleagues in real time.

In preparation of these apps arriving on your desktop, training is available for you to sign up to during the remaining weeks of October and throughout November.

There are two different lessons you can attend virtually to learn how to get the most from these two tools. We encourage you to attend both. Training will be available from Wednesday 27 October until the end of November, book in your slot below:

  • Lesson 1: Introduction to Teams and OneDrive will cover the basics of how to use the Teams workspace and OneDrive. There are plenty of spaces available over the next month and you can book here.
  • Lesson 2: Teams for Enhanced Collaboration will show some of the extra apps that are part of Teams and OneDrive for easy and seamless collaboration with colleagues. This module also has plenty of space available over the next month and you can book here.  A full training schedule is available on the UC Intranet M365 site.

We’ll update you when you these two apps will be available to you.  You can find more information on  Microsoft Teams and OneDrive on the UC Intranet M365 site, or the FAQ page here.
