Ngā Manu Kōrero ki Waitaha 2022 is coming to UC!

Come and join us on Thursday and Friday to welcome and celebrate thetalented young speakers from the Waitaha region competing in Ngā Manu Kōrero ki Waitaha, here at UC. We are super excited to be hosting the regional speech competition here on campus.

Ngā Manu Kōrero is regarded as the most significant event on the Māori education calendar for providing the stage for young people to express their views and to lay down their challenges to an admiring and critical audience of peers, parents, whānau and judges.

You can watch the livestream for the Junior Stage and the Senior Stage.

This is a great opportunity to show UC’s value of manaakitanga and empowering others. So, we hope to see you online!

More about Ngā Manu Kōrero:

The speech contests are intended to encourage the development of skills and confidence of Māori students in spoken English and te reo Māori. All secondary schools are invited to participate in this event, noting that the Māori section is open to all students as part of a strategy to support everyone to learn and to speak in te reo Māori.
