Now that exams are over, and you’ve accepted that doing a bit of exercise is going to help your mental and physical health, perhaps it’s a good time to get your exercising self sorted…
UC RecCentre – More than just a gym
Yes, we have weights and cardio. Very good weights and cardio. The very latest in fact, from Technogym (well, most of it). Not sure how to use it?
- Book in (via the app) for a free 15min orientation via the app, and we’ll give you a tour and answer quick questions.
- Book in (via the app) for a free Intro to lifting or Intro the gym session
- We’re also offering half price gym programmes for students for all of July, so you can get a personalised programme to suit your lifestyle, experience and goals for just $20.
Courts, Climbing and Classes
Not all gyms are the same. All have weights and cardio. Some have classes. Even fewer have a bouldering wall, squash court, sport courts and boxing rooms you can play in. And only one other we know of in Christchurch has a women’s only space within the gym. Why not get your cardio fix with a bit of a hit up on a badminton or squash court? It’s free before 3pm every day, and charges apply after 3pm. Equipment hire is always free (unless you break it, then you buy it!)
The app is where it’s at
Once you have the app, you can book into classes (essential), book time with a fitness consultant (ideal), get yourself a programme and even see how busy the cardio equipment is (not very, at the moment, an ideal time to start!)
You absolutely need your Student ID card – it’s how you get into the building. Bring it with you EVERY-SINGLE-TIME, along with your gym towel of course.
