Make a strong start on your studies

Is this your first year of study at UC, or do you want a refresher on how to get the most out of your studies?

The Academic Skills Centre has developed an online module to give you some key information and useful study tips to help you get your semester off to a flying start.

The module explains what lectures, tutorials and labs entail, how you can stay up to date with your course requirements, and how to understand grades and assessment procedures. It also gives you study tips relating to time management, note-taking, reading, and revision.

Finally, the module contains links to a wide range of services from which you can access further academic support.

You can try the Academic Skills Orientation Module here.

Permanent alcohol ban in Riccarton-Ilam area

Did you know there is a permanent alcohol ban in the Riccarton-Ilam area?

This means you’re not allowed to consume alcohol or carry open containers of alcohol on the streets and in public spaces in the area, including Ilam Road and University Drive.

This alcohol ban is in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A breach of the ban is an offence and the Police will issue an infringement notice (instant fine).

For more information, and larger map of the Riccarton-Ilam area, see the Christchurch City Council website.
