Become a UniLife Kaitaki Ākonga | Student Leader in 2023!

Are you looking for a fun and rewarding job on campus that looks great on your CV? Apply to be a UniLife Kaitaki Ākonga in 2023!

What’s it like to be a UniLife Kaitaki Ākonga?

You will be part of the UniLife team, planning and delivering UC’s awesome group mentoring programme for new students who don’t live on campus. Help our new students  find their feet at UC, connect them with each, watch them make friends, and have fun showing them what UC has to offer!

UniLife Kaitaki Ākonga Storme and Renz

This is a paid role on campus, very compatible with your studies, and comes with tons of personal and professional development through the Ākonga Leadership Incubator.

If you want to find out more about the role, watch the video of the info session we held earlier this month. For any questions, please email unilife@canterbury.ac.nz.

Who can apply?

We are looking for both undergrad and postgrad students from all faculties for our UniLife Kaitaki Ākonga roles. To be eligible for the role, you need to have at least one year of full-time studies at UC under your belt by February 2023 and will have to be enrolled as a full-time student next year.

How can I apply?

Simply read through the position description (lots of good stuff in there to help you with your application!) and fill in the application form 🙂

In the form, you will be asked to upload a CV and a letter of motivation (appr. 500 words); here are some tips for your letter of motivation:

  • think about your personal attributes which would make you a great Kaitaki Ākonga
  • talk about what excites you about UniLife and being a Kaitaki Ākonga
  • tell us about your experience in leadership roles
  • share how you would go about supporting your students
The application deadline is Friday, 9th September, and we will be holding interviews in late September.
