How is the semester going so far? Loving it, or not so much? The best way to let UC know is through the UCount Survey! This survey is tailored for undergraduate and taught postgraduate students, and will ask about your experiences with learning and teaching, belonging, wellbeing, and a heap of other important things! Data from the survey informs decision making from the very top, through all areas of the uni.
Have your say! Your link will be in your inbox, or go to http://bit.ly/UCount2022 or scan the QR code below (because we are all pros at that now!)
If you’ve got any questions, concerns, or issues with the survey, email us at surveys@canterbury.ac.nz.

RecLITE -It’s been a blast, but it’s time to move on
While we’ve enjoyed living up the resort feels at Dovedale, we’re looking forward to moving home , and reopening the RecCentre full and proper on Tuesday 29th March, 2022.
Some disruption whilst we transition
It’s no easy feat moving a gym, even just a tiny part of one! So, we’ll be slowly moving equipment and cleaning the gym from Monday 21st March. You will see some equipment disappear from the JM gym, with a final big move on Monday 28th March, 2022.
For that reason, here’s what you need to know:
Classes, drop-in and social sport as per usual up to and including Monday 28th March (bookings via app)
Jack Mann weights/cardio until Sunday 27th March – nothing available on Monday 28th
Reopening on Tuesday 29th March with full opening hours
To use the RecCentre, you’ll need to have both your Student ID and a membership sorted
Join online now, there’s no money to pay (it’s levy funded) but you do need to register.
Download the Rec&Sport App . It’s essential to book classes, consults with staff, load up your barcode (so if you forget your card, you can still get in, because who forgets their phone?) and more features to come.
That’s it. It can take up to 48hrs for the software to join the dots, so we recommend that you get this done now, while you’re sitting here, so when you do roll up to check us out, you’ll be good to go.
We are operating with vaccine passes
If you haven’t already, we’ll need you to show us your vaccine pass on your first visit. We’ll verify and record that you’ve shown us, so you won’t need to do it again.
It’s been our pleasure to offer RecLITE – but it’s even more rewarding to serve up the full range of activities and facilities at the RecCentre. We look forward to seeing you in our home, on the 29th!
Just an FYI that there will be a power shut down to Engineering Core from 7am to noon on Saturday 19 March in case it is your go-to study nook or you were going to meet friends there.
This is part of regular maintenance to our campus power network.
The following buildings will be closed during this period:
Core Substation
Eng Core
Electrical Eng
HT Lab
CAPE Wing
E8 & E9
Elec Link
CAPE DG Store
Eng Bike Shed
