Take part in the City Nature Challenge at UC, next Monday 1 May!
Join UC’s Biodiversity Projects Coordinator, Seamus Moran, and the wonderful students from EnviroSoc, to head out on campus to observe all things nature. Observations will be made using the iNaturalist app and will be adding to our understanding of campus biodiversity.
Meet on the North side of Ernest Rutherford (near Ancestral Cafe) on Monday 1 May on the hour, every hour between 10am – 1pm to participate in the blitz. Bio Blitz times are:
- 10am – 11am
- 11am -12pm
- 12pm – 1pm
The global City Nature Challenge runs from 28 April – 1 May and uses the power of citizen science to help map the world’s biodiversity.
Join the Sustainability Office for a lunch-hour walk around campus on Tuesday 2 May to find the best spots to forage for edible fruits, native nibbles, herbs, nuts and berries!
The walk will begin outside Cafe 1894 at 12pm and will end at Waiutuutu Community Garden just before 1pm. If you can, please stay for a cup of herbal tea in the garden afterwards.
Your guide Seamus is the UC Biodiversity Co-ordinator and has years of experience working on the UC Grounds team.
