Shanghai Shout internship applications are now open!

Want the chance to win one of two all expenses-paid internships in Shanghai over the summer?

The Shanghai Shout is an internship challenge exclusively for University of Canterbury students.

Last year, third year Commerce student Tim Fenwick won the inaugural Shanghai Shout, topping a talented field of over 30 initial applicants to win an all expenses-paid intern position. Through this
opportunity, Tim was able to gain valuable international work experience by interning at Westland Milk Products in Shanghai over the 2015/16 summer.

Two Internships on offer this year

This year, there’s not one but two positions on offer in both the export and tourism sectors.

We are pleased to announce that Westland Milk will be again providing the export sector position, while Tourism New Zealand
will be coming on board to provide the tourism sector internship.

Thanks to the Prime Minister’s Scholarship for Asia, both internships
are all expenses-paid! That means your flights to and from Shanghai are covered, along with your accommodation, living expenses, insurance and visa costs.

To enter, submit an online application before 5pm, 4 August.

You’ll need to answer three key questions relating to your motivation for applying, and how you believe you can add value to your desired company.

You can even apply for more than one position!

If selected as a top applicant in one of the two industry sectors,
you’ll be invited to prepare a business case for presentation to a panel of judges in a Dragon’s Den format, which will include representatives from your potential host company. The two eventual winners will be ultimately selected by the company based on both the quality of their presentation and their suitability for the job role in China.

Successful applicants will intern in Shanghai for a seven-week period
from 28 November 2016 to 26 January 2017, which includes a week’s break over the Christmas and New Year period.
