UC Student Wellbeing are currently recruiting for some new members of the Kaiwhakatere Oranga | Wellbeing Navigator team.
As a Kaiwhakatere Oranga | Wellbeing Navigator you will work to enhance the wellbeing of UC students through events, activations, student voice, and engagement. We are looking for people who are confident building relationships with the student community, and who want to promote wellbeing – full training will be provided!
This is a casual role, and we are looking for people who can ideally commit to about 6-8 hours each week during the academic year.
We are looking for some of the skills and experience listed below
- Skilled in building relationships, displaying active and non-judgmental listening, and offering genuine support.
- Ability to speak confidently and effectively in front of groups when sharing personal experiences or providing education about mental health and wellbeing.
- Understanding of appropriate boundaries when sharing personal experiences and providing support to maintain both personal and professional wellbeing.
- Skilled in advocating for mental health and wellbeing awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting supportive environments.
- Sensitivity to diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences, ensuring inclusive and respectful interactions.
- Applicants that have an ability to connect and relate to individuals experience their own mental health and wellbeing challenges, through their lived experience, are encouraged to apply.
