Reinforcing cybersecurity with MFA

Last month, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) was applied to your UC Microsoft 365 account to provide you with an extra layer of protection.

In this digital age, as cybercrime continues to rise, just knowing your username and password isn’t enough. That’s why we applied an extra step of authenticating your identity through MFA to make it harder for an attacker to take over your UC account.

In cases where you lose your phone (yes, it happens!), travel abroad or to remote places, or it feels like you’re being re-prompted for MFA regularly, don’t forget to read the Frequently Asked Questions.

MFA Prompt

Noticed a change when you log in? That’ll be MFA

As of yesterday, Tuesday 17 May, all students are now required to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) when logging to their UC Microsoft 365 accounts.

This is to protect your study and assignments, by adding a ‘double check’ when you log into your account.

It’s important for us to adapt how we protect our resources and data against cybercriminals, and MFA is a quick and easy way to confirm your identity when logging into Microsoft services such as email (Outlook), Word, Excel, PowerPoint or OneDrive. You’ll find it is quite common wherever you log in these days.

It takes only a few minutes to set up MFA. If you haven’t already, you can find all the information you need to get yourself set up here

Reminder: Multi-Factor Authentication is coming your way

From Tuesday 17 May all students will be required to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to log in to their UC Microsoft 365 accounts.

This precaution will keep your study documents and assignments safer by providing a ‘double check’ when you log into your account.

MFA is hugely valuable in protecting UC’s online resources and data against ongoing attempts by hackers. The use of MFA will add another layer of security to help protect your assignments by making it more difficult for hackers to gain access to your emails and files.
