Test wilding pine control with UC summer scholarship

A UC summer scholarship to test a new method of wilding pine control. This 10 week, $5K project would suit a postgrad in engineering and/or forestry and/or biological sciences. Please apply by 12 November 2022.

Zap bagged pine seedlings with electricity pulses to ring bark them (think defibrillator). Check how well  the method works by using cool equipment. Measure soil water moisture, plant transpiration rates, sap-flow etc. Find out about heat pulses, count growth rings, write a report. Thinking of  a research project? Long term we hope to design a back pack for field use.
