UC SVA Connect the Community | Hononga Tūao 2023

The UC Student Volunteer is excited to present our first large-scale volunteering event of term 3: Connect the Community!  On Saturday 29th July, join 300 students for a morning of meaningful volunteering with the Christchurch community!  This will be followed by a chance to socialise and enjoy free food, live entertainment and sustainability stalls courtesy of some amazing UC clubs and community groups.  With a focus on sustainability, mental health and bringing together the UC student community and the wider Canterbury community, this is not an event to be missed!

WHEN?

Saturday 29th July, volunteering 9:30am-1pm, Hub space 1pm-4pm.

Please meet outside Haere-Roa at 8:30, buses will leave around 8:45am.

WHERE?

The location and projects will be announced on Monday 17th July!

HOW MUCH?

We will provide transport, equipment, snacks, and a hot lunch – all for FREE!

Sign ups will go live on Tuesday 18th July at 10am, so keep an eye on our social media or come and visit us at Clubs Day!  There will be a limited number of tickets available, so make sure you get in quick!

There will also be an array of stalls at the Hub space that you can purchase from!  More information about the stalls will be released on our social media over the next few weeks.

Calling student volunteers

Student volunteers can gain FREE registration (and a t-shirt) to the

  • International Congress on Biological Invasions ICBI
  • Christchurch Town Hall
  • 1-4 May 2023

You first meet at the conference registration desk on Mon, 1 May @ 3:00pm for a briefing. You will be given 3 hours of very easy work (mainly sitting or standing around) in the morning or afternoon during the conference.

Currently there are 26 spaces and Lincoln University and University of Canterbury get first dibs, so be quick!
