Biking is a great way to get to campus, but with bike theft on the rise it’s important to keep our bikes as secure as possible!
The best way to keep your bike safe is by locking it with a D-lock or hardened steel chain lock in one of UC’s secure sheds, as well as registering your bike and its details in the 529 Garage Bike registry. 529 Garage is a free online bike / e-scooter registry that helps reunite people with their bikes if they’re ever stolen. When locking your bike, it’s important to always lock through the bike frame (and rear wheel if possible), to a solid object like a bike stand.
Getting your D-lock:
UC Security have D-locks for sale at $45 each, with the chance to win your money back! You can also go in the draw to win one for FREE if you register your bike with 529 Garage (visit UC Sustainability’s Instagram page to comment and go in the draw).
