Facilities Management contractors will be permanently removing Bridge #9 (over the Ilam Stream, near UC Health Centre), between Monday 26 January and Wednesday 11 February, following a temporary closure period due to identified safety concerns.
Bridge #16 will remain open at all times and provides alternative pedestrian and cycle access.
Access Impacts
- The shared footpath and cycleway adjacent to the river and University Drive will be temporarily closed for 4-6 hours during this 2-week work period while a Hiab lifts out the bridge structure. Spotters will redirect users safely.
- At all other times, the path will remain open but narrowed to a minimum width of 1.2 m, with temporary fencing and warning/signage in place.
- Advance warning and directional signage will be installed on both approaches.
- Additional signage will request cyclists to slow down and, where necessary, dismount while passing through the area.
- Access to the UC Health Centre (SS25) will be maintained throughout.
Please:
- Do not enter the fenced off works areas and remain aware of Hiab and other truck movement in the area.
- Take note of and follow all traffic management and redirection signage.
- Cyclists – please slow down and where necessary, or requested, dismount while passing through the area.
