Science Road and Engineering Road Tree Works 6 – 10 January 2025

Facilities Management Grounds staff will be undertaking general maintenance tree works on Science Road and Engineering Road between Monday 6 January and Friday 10 January.

This preventative safety and tree health work will include pruning, removal of dying branches, canopy reduction, and the removal of a dying Fiver Finger located in the Science Road carpark. These are standard practises for ensuring the good health of the University tree stock.

Traffic Management will be in place with closures for Science Road and the Engineering Road footpath for approximately two hours each during the works.

Facilities Management have adopted a two for one replacement policy to compensate for the loss of a tree. In line with this policy a  Psuedopanax will be planted in the Science carpark, and two Plagianthus will be planted on the Okeover Stream bank Opposite SEL

Please adhere to all traffic management and signage and do not enter any fenced work areas. There will be some noise from chainsaw and chipper machinery being used for the works.

Direct any enquiries to fmassist@canterbury.ac.nz

Thank you for your consideration as we undertake these required tree maintenance works.
