Temporary Water Outage Homestead Lane 1pm – 3.30pm 23/07/2024

Facilities Management advise that contractors will be undertaking repairs to leaking pipework in the garden area opposite the gate in Homestead Lane today Tuesday 23 July and tomorrow Wednesday 24 July 2024.

To complete this repair, the water will need to be shut off to buildings in Homestead Lane between 1pm and 3.30pm tomorrow Wednesday 24 July.

We expect this to affect the following listed buildings only:

Staff Club
Ilam Apartments
Tupuānuku

Works include removal of an existing leaking valve and pipework and replacing this with a new backflow device.

What do you need to do?

Use alternative toilets and personal care options for the duration of the works.
Fill bottles and drink containers prior to 1pm (if required).
Use bottled water.

Plumbers will be onsite for the duration of the works.

Heating System Notification

Facilities Management advise that our heating systems have been slow to warm up this morning. However, we are expecting temperatures to increase gradually over the course of the morning with normal temperatures being reached around lunchtime.

Puaka-James Hight lifts out of service

The eastern lifts – the lifts furthest from the Library main entrance – in Puaka-James Hight will be out of service for three weeks from Monday 24 June until Sunday 14 July to allow contractors to undertake a planned upgrade. Work will be undertaken daily from 8am until 5pm.

The eastern lifts are next to the eastern stairs, men’s bathroom and security desk. See image below.

During this time, please use the alternative three lifts or stairwell and follow usual evacuation procedures in the event of an emergency.
