Facilities Management has confirmed that, following a component replacement, Lift #4 in the West Building is now operational.

Facilities Management advises that a scheduled power outage will affect several buildings at 24 Kirkwood Avenue between 5.30pm and 10.30pm this Thursday 23 October.

This outage is necessary to enable the connection of the new power supply for the Takurua development.

Affected Buildings:

GS50 – UC Print & K1 Lecture Theatre

GS91, GS92, RH17 – Mechanical Engineering Workshops

These buildings should be considered closed during the outage.

Important Instructions:

• Turn off all IT equipment by 5:00pm on Thursday.
• FM electricians and contractors will be onsite to manage infrastructure.
• Follow signage and contractor instructions during the works.
• Follow usual evacuation procedures in the event of an emergency.

Facilities Management advises that Lift #12, located in the western lift bank of Puaka-James Hight, will be out of service from 1pm Monday 20 October 2025 until 5pm Tuesday 30 June 2026.

This is part of a sequential upgrade programme being carried out by our contractor, OTIS, to modernise all lifts in the building. Each lift will be upgraded one at a time, with an expected downtime of 4–6 months per lift. Lift #13 has recently returned to service and is now fully operational.

During this period, hoarding will be installed near Lift #12 on Level 1 and Level 11, and works will begin in the Eastern End plantroom.

While Lift #12 is unavailable, please use alternative lifts or stairs to move between floors.
