Power Outage – Te Ao Mārama Buildings and McMillan Brown Library Tomorrow 2 August

Facilities Management (FM) advise that there will be a total temporary total electrical outage affecting all Te Ao Mārama Buildings and the McMillan Brown Library between 7am and 8am this Saturday, 2 August, to enable the installation of switchboard monitoring devices into the main electrical switchboard for the Te Ao Mārama buildings (refer to inset or attached map).

In order for this work to be undertaken safely the switchboard will be electrically isolated. And a complete power outage will be in effect for approximately one (1) hour.

Affected Buildings:

  • FO04 – Te Ao Mārama, Block A
  • FO05 – Macmillan Brown Library
  • FO06- Te Ao Mārama, Block C

Please turn off all computer and other electrical prior to the power outage (Friday evening, 1 August 2025)

If you do need to be in these buildings during this time, please dress for the weather or find alternative locations on Campus to work or study.

Thank you for your understanding as we complete these required electrical tasks.

Temporary Re-opening of Bike Sheds – Central Lecture Theatres

Facilities Management are pleased to advise the temporary reopening of the Bike Shed, located at the rear of the Central Lecture Theatres building at the Beatrice Tinsley (SC07) end (refer to inset map).

We still have some work to do on the shelter; however, we have decided to open it up on an interim basis and then re-close the shelter for the roof install in October when the weather is more settled.

When we close for the completion of the repairs in October, we will be doing some work to reorganise the internal layout and make the space more user friendly.

If you have any enquiries, please contact fmassist@canterbury.ac.nz

Thank you for your patience as we complete these repair and re-roof works.

West Building – Truck Movement 28 July

Facilities Management advise truck movement for the placement of a waste skip that will be located at the south end of the West Building (SC02) between 5pm Monday 28 July and 7am Tuesday 29 July.

The south end of the building will be fenced off, while the skip is in place, to prevent access to any hazardous materials being carefully and appropriately waste managed.

Please be aware of truck movements during delivery and pick up of the skip, and do not enter the fenced off area.

Please adhere to any signage in place, and do not dispose of any rubbish into the skip or remove any rubbish from the skip.

Please refer any enquiries to fmassist@canterbury.ac.nz

Thank you for your consideration during these works.
