Planned Roof Maintenance on Haere-roa 22 to 23 December 2025

Facilities Management contractors will be carrying out exterior maintenance on the flat roof areas of the Haere-roa building between 7.30am Monday 22 December and 5pm Tuesday 23 December.

Contractors will be heating sections of the roof membrane to re-adhere them. This process requires hot works, which may produce noticeable odours when the membrane is heated.

All required University of Canterbury hot works permits will be in place, and working-at-height safety protocols will be strictly followed.

You may see contractors walking across the roof to reach the areas that they are working in.

Please take extra care when walking near the building while the roof orks are in progress and be aware that there may be a temporary odour from the hot works.

For any enquiries, please contact fmassist@canterbury.ac.nz.

Thank you for your understanding as we complete these essential maintenance works.

Tree Removal Meremere Carpark – 5-9 January 2026

Facilities Management advises that there will be tree removal works in progress in the Meremere Carpark between Monday 5 January and Friday 9 January 2026.

As this preventative safety work is required to remove a dead tree a small area of carparks will be coned off.

Affected Buildings and Area:

Meremere Carpark.

(LA01) – Meremere

( AR05) – South Arts Lecture Theatre

(MU01) – Music

Facilities Management have adopted a two for one replacement policy to compensate for the loss of a tree. Decisions on replacement planting will be part of the 2026 works planning.

While contractors are working be aware of moving machinery and machinery noise, and do not enter the fenced off areas.

We appreciate your consideration as we perform these tree essential maintenance works.
