Facilities Management (FM) Fire Curtain Inspection will be in progress in the North Entrance foyer of the Meremere building between 7.30am and 12pm on Wednesday 19 November.

The fire curtain will be lowered to carry out the inspection and while the curtain is down access to the lifts will only be accessible via the main entrance from the car-park side. The stairs will remain accessible on both sides of the entrance.

What do you need to do?

• Be aware of works in progress.
• Take care when you are moving around the works area.
• Do not enter the works area or go behind the temporary wall.

The Facilities Management Building Surveyors will be completing Building Floor Plan Inspections and Building Condition Assessments between Monday 17 November and Friday 21 in the following buildings:

AR01 – James Logie

AR02 – Elsie Locke

A building floor plan verification is when we complete a visual inspection of all rooms to verify, and record, any differences in the viewed floor plans against current plans that the University hold on file.

To complete the building condition assessment Surveyors will record the condition of the building and may take photos to support these records, and you may see the surveyors on the roof of the building. They will ensure that persons are not identifiable in any photographs taken.

To undertake these assessments the Building Surveyors will be accessing all spaces within an area or building, so please allow access – they will be quiet!

Facilities Management

Facilities Management would like to provide early notice of upcoming works to upgrade and improve safety in the Science Road / Erskine Carpark area.

We anticipate these works will commence around 20 November.

Scope of Works:

• Construction of a wider pathway to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
• Improved access to the Ilam Early Learning Centre.
• Upgrades to short-term parking.
• Drainage improvements near the Security Building.
• Tree removal.

Six (6) small to medium trees impacting drainage, services, and carpark security will be removed to allow the safety improvements works to take place in and around Science/Erskine Carpark (refer to markup map).

Facilities Management has adopted a two-for-one replacement policy for the removal of trees. Replacement planting will be incorporated into the project landscaping considered as part of the 2026 planting programme.

Please be aware of and expect construction noise throughout the construction period.

We will provide further details on carpark availability, traffic management, access changes, and timelines, on confirmation of the work programme.

What to expect:

• Please note: Parking will be available at the Arts Carpark, UCSA Carpark, and Dovedale campus during these works.
• Security will move all fleet vehicles to alternative locations nearby to maintain minimum 50% carpark availability.
• Works boundaries and access will be adjusted through the work programme to facilitate completion.
• Safe access to Kindergarten and Security will be maintained 100% of the time.
