Planned Power Outage- Tupuānuku Tuesday 4 February

There will be a complete power outage affecting Tupuānuku and the Energy Centre between 8.30am and 5pm on Tuesday 4th February.

Facilities Management contractors, Connetics and Southbase, will be completing the installation and connection of a new transformer to support the new Tupuārangi Student Hall.

Please be prepared for this power outage to last approximately eight (8) hours however contractors hope to restore power as quickly as possible.

Those in affected buildings should prepare to be without power for up to eight (8) hours and turn off all computer and other electrical equipment prior to the power outage.
Please remain cautious and aware of construction and utility works in progress.

Interested in an Austrian Summer school?

Ever wondered what a European study experience would be like? 🏰🥨🏔

The univie: summer school will take place from July 12 to August 9, 2025. The four week program offers high-level European studies courses, the Austrian Arbitration Academy, and German language courses.

The European studies courses are held in English and focus on Europe and the European Union. They cover political, economic, and legal transformations, and also historical and cultural aspects of the multiple transitions the continent is currently undergoing. The Austrian Arbitration Academy is designed for law students and focuses on international dispute settlement by arbitral tribunals.

This programme is of interest to students from all fields of study, but certainly of special interest to students who concentrate on Europe or study one of the following fields: European Studies, Political Science, Law, Economics, History, Cultural Studies, International Relations, Interdisciplinary Studies, and/or German.

Students from all over the world have been drawn to the program. The campus is located directly on the shore of Lake Wolfgang, one of Austria’s most popular lakes in the picturesque Salzkammergut region.

Power Outages and Floor Closures Puaka-James Hight 4-17 January 2025.

Facilities Management advise that, as a continuation of the lift upgrade works in progress, Contractors will be undertaking maintenance and upgrade works in the Puaka-James Hight building during January 2025 that will impact on the listed floors, with outages and closures as follows:

​​​Level 11

Saturday 4 January Power Outage from 6am until 11am – Isolation of the power boards on level 11.

​​Monday 6 January to Wednesday 8 January – floor closure – level 11 will be closed for the replacement of the level 11 power board.

Level 10

Wednesday 8 January to Friday 10 January – floor closure– level 10 will be closed for the replacement of the level 10 power board.

​​Level 5

Monday 6 January to Friday 10 January – closure of floor lobbies for maintenance work in the two lift cores. One lobby will be closed off at a time. The East lobby will be closed first, followed by the West lobby.

This will mean 1 x core lift will be available for access on L5. The “staff lift” in the Northwest corner will also be open for use.

​​​Level 6

Monday 13 January to Wednesday 15 Jan – floor closure – level 6 will be closed for maintenance works.

​​​​Level 4

Wednesday 15 January to Friday 17 January-floor closure – level 4 will be closed for maintenance works.

A full access outage will be in place for staff and students during each individual floor closure. This means you will not be able to access floors 4,5,6,10 and 11 during the times listed above.

What do you need to do?

  • Please adhere to all works signage and closures.
  • Use the listed available lifts for access when the lift lobbies in level 5 are closed for works.
  • Plan for power outages that affect levels 10 and 11 as listed.
  • Turn off IT equipment on levels 10 and 11 before leaving prior to the power outages.
