Building Plan Verification Inspections for 20-24 October

The Facilities Management Surveyors will be completing Building Floor Plan Verification Inspections between 8.30am and 4.30pm from Monday 20 October to Friday 24 October in the following buildings:

  • AR06 – Jane Soons
  • AR08 – Ann Ballin
  • EN09 – Engineering and Physical Sciences Library
  • EN17 – Engineering Link, Engineering Block A
  • SS02 – Recreation Centre Reception and Changing Rooms

FM Building Surveyors will be quietly inspecting all spaces to verify floor plans and identify any discrepancies compared to the plans currently held by the University.

Riccarton–Ilam Wastewater Works Update & : Waimairi Road/Maidstone Road

Dormer Construction is progressing well on the Riccarton–Ilam Wastewater System upgrade, with completion now expected in early 2026.

Starting 20 October, trenching and excavation will begin at the Maidstone/Waimairi intersection, lasting approximately nine weeks. Minor tidy-up works will follow in early 2026.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Maidstone Road remans one-way westbound only between Ilam Road and Waimairi Road.
  • Waimairi Road (North side):

No Exit at the north side of Waimairi Road (near the intersection).

You can only enter this area (North side of Waimairi Road) if you’re coming from:

    • South on Waimairi Road, or
    • West on Maidstone Road.
  • No left turn entry from the east side of Maidstone Road (this is the current one-way section).
  • A 30km/h speed limit will be in place for worker safety during the works.
  • Please follow all traffic and detour signage and keep an eye out for any changes in traffic management.

Other key information:

  • Customer parking for the shops on Waimairi Road remains available.
  • Key works on existing watermains will be completed at night between 9pm and 6am (Monday to Thursday)
  • Any changes to bus routes will be shown with signage. For information on bus routes, visit www.metroinfo.co.nz.
On-street parking may continue to be limited.

Dormer Construction apologise for any inconvenience and will be working hard to reduce the impact as much as possible as they work through the final phases of this work.

Tea Party Building & Car Park Closure

Kia ora koutou!

With Tea Party happening this Saturday 18th of October, our car park closure and site built has commenced. From today until Monday 20th of October, parts of the Haere-roa car park will be closed so that we can set up for Tea Party. This will result in limited car parking at the Haere-roa car park for this period of time.

The Main entrance to Haere-roa will be closed from 3pm on Friday 17th October. Staff and students will still be able to access reception via the social space, and the Foundry via the external entrance.

At 6pm, the gate across the Haere-roa Rainbow bridge will be closed. Staff and students will need to access the Carpark via the health centre bridge.
