Facilities Management plumbing contractors will be working in the basement plant room of the Forestry buildings, replacing pipework due to leaks in those pipes, from 8am Monday 16 December until 4.30pm Tuesday 17 December.

This will mean that there is a total water shutdown in the listed buildings affecting all toilets and tearooms. Signage will be in place directing staff and students to alternative toilets in the Rehua building.

Affected Buildings:  

• FO01 – Forestry
• FO02 – Forestry Administration Block
• Fo03 – Forestry Workshop

During the water shutdown please use alternative toilets in Rehua or other

buildings and make alternative arrangements for tearoom access or supplies.

Do not turn on any taps in the building. if you do, please turn off immediately to avoid flooding when the water is turned back on.

Facilities Management (FM) contractors ( Connectics ) are completing some essential planned maintenance to the 11Kv substation to ensure that our infrastructure remains compliant, reliable, and resilient.

To complete this work the listed buildings will experience a complete loss of power for approximately seven (7) hours from 7am until 2 pm on Saturday 14 December. 

Affected buildings should be considered to be closed for the duration of the power outage.

FM recommend that people in the affected buildings:   

• Turn off IT equipment in preparation for this outage. 
• Ensure any equipment UPS is operating 
• Plan to shut down and reset any specialist equipment.

Facilities Management

Facilities Management contractors will be installing security bollards to the entrance of the carpark adjacent to Rehua between Monday 2 December and Friday 20 December.

To ensure that access to the car park remains open the works will be completed in 2 stages:

• Stage 1 – the outer entrances, marked A &B on the insert diagram, will be closed while bollards are installed to these access lanes.
• Stage 2 – the central entrance, marked C on the insert diagram, will be closed while bollards are installed to this access lane.

Please stay alert and watch for contractors working in the area, take note of all traffic management signage, and follow all access instructions.

Once installed, the bollards will be raised outside of normal UC hours, and staff and students will need to swipe their Canterbury Card to enter and exit the carpark.
