Carpark and Access Outage Meremere – Urgent Heating Repairs

Facilities Management will be completing urgent repairs to a heating line adjacent to the Meremere building, from Monday 22 September to Friday 10 October, due to an accelerating leak currently impacting heating across several buildings in the Recreation Centre and K1 blocks.

As part of the  preparation works the removal of a large oak tree will commence on Tuesday 22 September. In line with the Facilities Management 2-for-1 tree replacement policy his tree will be replaced in the 2026 landscaping programme.

Key Impacts and Access Changes

  • The tree removal works will be noisy due to use of woodchipper and chainsaw equipment.
  • Southwest footpath and Meremere southwest door closed.
  • Partial closure of Meremere carpark (southwest end).
  • Temporary relocation of designated car parks.
  • Heating loss in Rec Centre, K1 blocks, and others.

Safety & Wayfinding:

  • Follow all redirection and safety signage.
  • Use the southeast entrance to access Meremere.
  • Do not enter fenced or restricted areas and be alert to contractor activity.
  • In an emergency, follow staff instructions and evacuation protocols.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as these essential repairs are carried out.
