Building Survey Central Lecture Theatres – Exterior and Roof.

Facilities Management Building Surveyors will be undertaking surveys to the exterior roof spaces and exterior walls of the Central Lecture Theatres between 9.30am and 4.30 pm on Thursday 8 May.

If you see staff on the roof during that time, it is likely that they will be the surveyors and will be following all working at heights safety protocol. If you are at all concerned, please contact UC Security tel:0800823637.

The purpose of the UC Building surveys is to complete a full visual assessment of the condition of the interior and exterior of the building. Surveyors will ensure that any photographs taken during the assessment are of the building and that persons are not identifiable in the photographs.

Please direct any enquiries to fmassist@canterbury.ac.nz.

Thank you for your consideration as we undertake these required building surveys.

New Zealand Sign Language Week

New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) week, 5 – 11 May 2025, is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate this official language of our country. The vision of NZSL week 2025 is “an Aotearoa where anyone can sign anywhere” and we want to build this into our places of learning, work and recreation here at UC.

Did you know…?

NZSL is a combination of handshapes, facial expressions and body movements.

Why join a sign language class?

Students register because:

  • They have a friend or family member who signs
  • They’re studying in a field where having an additional means of communication can be valuable.
  • They want to add another skill to their CV

Sign up for sign language!

UC offers an introductory course and two extension courses.

Students pay $60 for the block which includes online resources. See New Zealand sign language courses | University of Canterbury.
