Building Floor Plan Verification Inspections 1-4 July

The Facilities Management Senior Building Surveyor will be completing Building Floor Plan Verification Inspections on the Fine Arts Buildings (FA01-FA03) and the Forestry Laboratory Block (FO01) between Tuesday 1 July and Friday 4 July.

The purpose of the building floor plan verification is to complete a visual inspection of all rooms in a building to record any differences to the floor plans that the University currently have on file. To do this the Building Surveyor will be accessing all spaces within an area, so please allow access – he will be very quiet!

Please direct any enquiries to FMassist@canterbury.ac.nz

Thank you for your support during the building plan verification inspection programme.

Temporary Power Outage Ernest Rutherford (SC24) West Wing 5 July

Facilities Management advise that there will be a temporary electrical outage affecting all levels of the West Wing of the Ernest Rutherford building between 7am and 5pm on Saturday 5 July. Contractors will be completing switchboard works associated with the Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) Plant Room electrical supply (refer to inset map for affected areas).

Facilities Management electricians will be on call throughout this period to attend to any significant infrastructure issues.

What do you need to do?

FM recommend that staff and /or students:

• Turn off all IT equipment in preparation for this outage by close of business Friday 4 July, or earlier if you are going on leave for the school holidays.

• Ensure any equipment UPS is operating correctly.

• Plan to shut down and reset any specialist equipment.

Note: If laboratories or laboratory equipment will be affected by this outage then the Laboratory Technicians responsible for those spaces will need to reset any equipment, equipment alarms or associated services post outage.

Please direct any enquiries to fmassist@canterbury.ac.nz.

Thank you for your understanding as FM Contractors complete these works.
