The 120 Challenge

Take on 120 for the 120,000 this Endometriosis Awareness Month!

At least 120,000 girls, women and those assigned female at birth live with endometriosis in Aotearoa, New Zealand. This year for International Endometriosis Awareness Month, Endometriosis New Zealand is leading a powerful movement to raise awareness and vital funds for all those living with this condition.

On the 1st of March 2024 they will be kicking off 120 for the 120,000 challenge! A challenge that is open to absolutely anyone who is keen to make a difference for all those who are impacted by this condition.

Taking on The 120 Challenge is an opportunity to make your own challenge, one that suits you and all those around you. You might choose to go at it alone or challenge someone to join you, the choice is yours. Find inspiration in the theme for the month Living Well Together to create a fundraiser that excites you and inspires others!

You can find more information here, or hear from their experts on 11 March!

Get vaccinations sorted at the UCSA Summer Starter Expo!

This year UC and UCSA has partnered with Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand to provide FREE Meningococcal vaccinations for students.
UC strongly recommends the vaccination of all students.
Young people are particularly vulnerable to Meningococcal Disease and its potentially devastating effects, including Meningitis and Septicaemia, which strike fast and can be deadly. Long-term effects can include limb amputation, hearing loss, brain injury and permanent skin scarring if not diagnosed and treated in time.
Diagnosis can be difficult as symptoms can often mimic those of the common cold.

Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand’s vaccination drop-in clinic will be located in Bentleys (located in Haere-roa, above the Foundry) between 10am – 2pm on Thursday 29 February.
The clinic will also offer free HPV and MMR immunisations. These vaccinations are in the childhood immunisation schedule, but you may have missed out on them. Check your online health portal or ask your GP if you’re not sure.
If you have any questions you can chat to the Te Whatu Ora team who will have a stall located in Haere-roa on the day

Circuit/Interval Style Group Classes

Circuits and intervals require no rhythm or musical ability, just the willingness to put your best effort in. Our instructors will provide options for each exercise, to ensure you can safely do the class AND get your intensity up to the level you want it to be at.   These classes will give you both a muscle and cardio workout in one.

Traditional Muscle conditioning Classes

Don’t want to get too puffed on your first outing?  Fair enough.  These classes focus on the muscle work, so whilst you’ll get a healthy rise in heart rate, it’s more the muscle burn you’ll feel.  With no prior experience or co-ordination needed, these are great ways to get started!

Cardio Workouts

Ready to get your heart rate up and build your cardiovascular fitness?  Whether you like to dance or just work hard, we’ve got you covered!

MindBody

Our mindbody classes will not only help you unwind and de-stress, you’ll also get some great strength, mobility and flexibility from these exercise styles
