Forestry Road will be temporarily closed between 8am and 1pm on Monday 11 November while Facilities Management contractors complete the removal of the damaged Liquidambar trees located on Forestry Road by 51 Creyke Road.

The initial limb and branch removal was initiated as emergency health and safety work on 25 October after significant winds damaged the trees, bringing branches down onto Forestry Road.

Ilam Wastewater Update 20 November 2024

Update: 20 November 2024

Updates to University Drive access from Clyde Road
We’re pleased to confirm that University Drive reopened, with some conditions, on Thursday 14 November. Please be aware of the below changes to traffic management in this area

Closure of Arts Road from Clyde Road
As works have progressed up Clyde Road, the Arts Road entrance hass temporarily closed.

Vehicle, cycle, and pedestrian access has been redirected from Arts Road, encouraging users to exit and enter from University Drive. The cycle lane has been moved and now sits inside cones alongside the one-way traffic lane toward Creyke Road.

These closures are in place to allow Downer Construction to progress pipelaying further north along Clyde Road.   Okeover Stream

Work is planned to commence around Okeover Stream (Clyde Road) in early December so a syphon system can be constructed to take the wastewater underneath.

Creyke Road
The Dormer team are continuing to lay laterals pipes on Creyke Road, ahead of the main wastewater pipe, and then constructing and connecting new maintenance holes. This is ongoing work, moving west, down Creyke Road.

If you have any questions around the ongoing maintenance in this area, please contact fmassist@canterbury.ac.nz.

Update: 29 October 2024

Downer Construction are making good progress on the Ilam Wastewater Project on both Clyde Road and Creyke.

Clyde Road – The footpath around University Drive is now open.  Work to open access to University Drive for car traffic is still on-going, and we will let you know as soon as it is open.

Work in this area includes routine pipe laying and manhole construction with a ‘collector’ pipe being laid above the large wastewater pipe.

Creyke Road – The Downer team are currently laying laterals pipes, the main wastewater pipe, and constructing and connecting new manholes as they work west down Creyke Road.

As always, thank you for your patience as Council Contractors complete these works.
