How to make your party a ‘good one’

If you’re planning a party, make sure you have a ‘good one’ and register on the Good One party register.

Why register your party
Hosting a party can be a bit overwhelming. By registering your party with Good One, our community Police can help you in making your party successful.

Having the Police on board means they can give you a call, provide advice, help you plan and check in on the night to ensure that everyone is safe and having a good time. Find out more about how it works here.

Benefits of registering with Good One

  1. Party knowing you are safe
  2. Police will get rid of any unwanted guests to keep the good times rolling
  3. Easy chats with Police as they know what’s up

Major works impacting traffic and parking on Ilam Road

As part of the continued Christchurch City Council Nor’west Arc Cycleway project, major work is taking place around the Ilam Rd/Maidstone Rd/Creyke Rd intersection between 9 January and 31 May 2024.

The working area is Ilam Road between Memorial Avenue and University Drive

Impact to traffic on Ilam Road:

  • Traffic will be southbound only on Ilam Road from the intersection heading towards Riccarton Road
  • Traffic will be northbound only on Ilam Road from the intersection heading towards Memorial Avenue
  • The intersection traffic lights will not be operating during this period (they are being upgraded as part of the project)
  • Traffic will still be able to travel east and west through the intersection along Creyke Road and Maidstone Road

Accessing Science Road and University Drive:

  • Vehicles exiting Science Road or University Drive can travel southbound only heading towards Riccarton Road
  • Traffic management will finish just north of University Drive/Ilam Road entrance. Access to University Drive and the UCSA car park is from both directions, however vehicles exiting can travel southbound only heading towards Riccarton Road

Impact to parking:

  • All free on-street parking on Ilam Road between the intersection and Memorial Avenue will be unavailable between 9 January and 31 May

Aotearoa Bike Challenge Social Ride

The Aotearoa Bike Challenge officially kicks into gear on February 1st! Boost your wellbeing (and help us climb the leaderboard!) by joining fellow UC students and staff for a gentle lunch-hour ride to celebrate the start of the challenge. Don’t forget to log your ride on the Love to Ride website or via Strava so your kms count!

🚲 Meet out front of the University Bookshop (by the new Locky Dock Stand) at 12pm on February 1st 🚲

The ride will be a gentle meander along the Uni-Cycle, which will take us through the beautiful Riccarton Bush, around part of Hagley Park, and back to campus.

All levels of riders are welcome, but you must be able to safely ride a bike in order to participate. Helmets are required.

Don’t have a bike? Borrow one for free from the UCSA!

This is the first year students are able to participate in the challenge alongside staff! Last year UC came second in Ōtautahi Christchurch and third overall in Aotearoa for our size category 🌟 With your help we can aim even higher!

Looking forward to seeing you out there 🚲🚲🚲
