Temporary Electrical Outage Saturday 6 September

Facilities Management Contractors (Connectics) are completing some essential planned maintenance to the 11Kv substation to ensure that our infrastructure remains compliant, reliable, and resilient.  

To complete this work the listed buildings will experience a complete loss of power for approximately 5 hours from 7am until 12pm on Saturday 6 September. 

Affected buildings should be considered to be closed for the duration of the power outage.

 Affected Buildings:

  • Haere-roa (SS27)
  • Health Centre (SS25)
  • Warehouse K1 (GS50)
  • Recreation Centre (SS01–SS04)

Please note the Rec Centre will be closed on Saturday morning until 12 mid-day

Facilities Management recommend that people in the affected buildings:   

  • Turn off IT equipment in preparation for this outage. 

  • Ensure any equipment UPS is operating correctly. 

  • Plan to shut down and reset any specialist equipment.

Timber Bridge Access Closed Monday 1 September

Facilities Management advises that following a recent condition assessment of the timber bridge between the Health Centre and University Drive, the decision has been made to close the bridge for health and safety reasons.

The timber bridge will be closed from 1 September 2025. 

Access remains available via the adjacent main bridge.

Affected Area:

  • Pedestrian Bridge between Health Centre and University Drive

What do you need to do?

  • Be aware of increased movements across the main bridge.
  • Do not access the closed off bridge.
  • Adhere to any signage in place.
